Meet the Hawkins Family...

Morris Tabor was born in a little town called Sims, Arkansas. He grew up listening to his dad and his uncles making music with guitars and fiddles. When he got out of the Air Force and came home he met Lou and her family at church. For many years he loaded and unloaded sound and was always committed to the Hawkins Family music ministry. Morris has been in, under and behind the wheel of "Old Blue" and worked along side of his father-in-law, Buddy Hawkins, to keep the family traveling down the road. When an opening to sing the bass part became available Morris stepped up to the microphone and has been part of the singing group ever since. He loves the Lord and is dedicated to spreading the word in song. He and Lou were married in July 1965.

Lou Tabor was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Growing up in a church pastored by her grandfather she was always at church and began playing vibraharp and marimba with the other musicians at an early age. Like most young girls Lou took piano lessons. After several years and several teachers her parents decided to give up on lessons. As she walked by the piano at home she began to play parts of songs she had heard. The next teacher introduced her to chords and a lifetime love for gospel music. When her father was ordained as a minister they traveled to Texas to hold tent revivals and The Hawkins Family was born. Lou began to play the piano and sing harmony with her family. She has played keyboard on all the group's recording projects and continues to choose the songs and arrange all the music today. A few years ago she had the honor of representing gospel music with a 20 minute solo performance in an event showcasing different styles of music. As the only traveling member of the original group, Lou has assumed the role of manager for the group's ministry which also includes Hickory Hill Park, an outdoor gospel music amphitheater in Hot Springs.

Terry LeMay resides in Whelen Springs, Arkansas and has been with the Hawkins Family since 2002. In addition to singing with the family he also serves as bus driver and sound engineer. Terry answered the call to music ministry in 1988 and started singing with his sister as they formed the Gospel Vocalaires. Later as new members were added and the group expanded their travels the name was changed to the LeMay's. In 1990, he accepted the call to preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has served as a pastor and continues to preach revivals and special services when called. In the Spring he serves as President of the Arkansas Quartet Convention. Many Arkansas groups participate in the two-day event. Terry is married to Kimberly and they have two children, Joshua and Addison. It is their hearts desire to be about our Father's business.

Valerie Oliver was born and raised in Delton, Michigan, and raised in church. She has been singing since the age of four. Her mother learned how to play the piano so she could sing in church. In 1992 Valerie attended Applied Life Christian College where she cultivated her gifts and talents, sang with "Shekinah," and got her associates degree in Music Ministry. Since, she sang with recording artists Ray Hollis and Danny Chambers. Married to her husband, Jackson, in 2000, she has planted herself in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She's a beautician and owns her own beauty salon. Valerie has been very involved in her church, singing on the praise and worship team. It has been her heart's desire, since childhood, to help spread the gospel through music that will touch and heal the hearts of everyone, young and old.

Dan Henderson was born and raised in a Christian home near Bismarck, Arkansas and after leaving home he spent the next 25 years living the "worldly" life. In 1989 he became a new, born-again Christian and at that time asked the Lord to use him. Shortly after, he became a cast member of The Witness, the Hot Springs musical Passion Play. He was a part of The Witness production for ten years. Since that time he has spent eight years playing guitar with several music groups including the Trinity Church Praise and Worship Group, the Watchmen, and Straight Up. Dan joined the Hawkins Family in 2003. "The Lord has truly blessed me," he states, "by bringing so many talented and Godly people across my path." His desire in life is to see souls saved and lives changed. He lives in Hot Springs with his wife, Diane.

Paul DeWeber was born in Pasco, WA and grew up in Durango, Colorado, Aztec, New Mexico and Kennewick, Washington. He started playing the fiddle at the age of 11. He competed in fiddle contests across the Northwest, placing 3rd in Washington State and 25th in the nation. Paul surrendered his life to the Lord and began playing for the Lord in 1995. For several years while living in Hot Springs, he traveled with Wildwood Tabernacle Tent Ministries. Paul joined the Hawkins Family Ministries in March of 2006. This past year he accepted the call to preach the gospel. He was ordained as a minister and now pastors a church. He resides in Mt. Ida with his wife, Heather and two sons, Jedidiah and Andrew.

Malcolm Harmon was born in Warren County, Mississippi. He graduated in 1957 and started playing music on weekends. He played mandolin, lead guitar, bass, and steel guitar. He loved and played music all his life. In 1990 he visited a church with a musician friend who invited him to come play some music. It was a life-changing service that night when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. From that moment on he played a different kind of music and it has become his testimony. He resides in Hot Springs with his wife, Dot. They were married in 1962 and have one daughter, Tamara, a son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. Malcolm started playing steel guitar with the Hawkins Family about 3 years ago.

"There's a message that encourages the discouraged, lifts up the downhearted, excites the unexcited, and entertains the listener...it's called Gospel Music! Let us bring glory to God as we sing it…"
